Suffolk County, New York has gained notoriety as a leader in the anti-immigrant codes movement (see here and here). Now comes Businesses Fear Labor Shortage (4.5.07), a report from The East Hampton Star that businesses in the resort region area--known locally as the South Folk--are struggling to find workers. Without the necessary laborers, the area's all important summer season may be in jeopardy.
Question for Suffolk Pols: Is it worthwhile casting Suffolk County as inhospitable to newcomers when it is so dependent on its hospitality industry?
