In three weeks, Barack has been ghettoized. The crossover candidate, the great liberal hope, has become a Jesse Jackson, who is ceded the black vote and a few states, then given a speaking role at the convention, as the party moves on to the serious business of electing a president. It's despicable--and it's working for the Clintons!
It's a primary reason why decent Americans everywhere--Independents, Democrats and Republicans--must vote against this type of politics in the remaining primaries as well as in the general election.
And the sad thing is that the American people will let the Clintons get away with this and even more people will be turned off by the political scene.
ReplyDeleteWhy isn't their more outrage about this? I have been on a few blogs suggesting that we do something... maybe a letter writing campaign or a massive blog campaign pointing out these horrible tactics... what should we do to make an impact?
Adriana, I hear your outrage and frustration. What is shocking to me is not the tawdry politics of the Clintons, but the way the media and most prominent Democrats have stood silent.
ReplyDeleteI find it especially painful to watch prominent African American politicians taking their swings at the "black boy". Is there no honor?
However, it is true that African Americans will get a U.S. Senator in David Patterson if Hillary wins the presidency. Patterson would join Obama.
That's a big "if." I think that if the nominee is McCain, the establishment will feel inclined to throw him a bone. He will keep the war machine moving, and many fat cats will profit.
ReplyDeleteHillary has such high negative ratings right from the get-go that I don't think she could win the general election. I think that it has less to do with her being a woman and more to do with her being a "Clinton."
So many Democrats I speak with think that nominating her will be a mistake that I can't help but wonder if there hasn't been or will be some tampering of electronic voting machines, etc. Maybe we need the UN to come in and monitor our elections like they do in other countries?!
I really think that Hillary could be a more effective leader in the Senate. There are some older senior senators who could really show her a thing or two. She just isn't a good national spokesperson, and she doesn't inspire me or others in a positive way.
Hillary is bad for the country because she simply is not a unifer. She's a polarizing personality--which is fine for advocates and issues-oriented legislators, but fatal for a president. The other problem w/a possible Hillary presidency is that she brings along the sideshow that is Bill. He has is a talented politician but he has fatal personal flaws which he can't seem to control.
ReplyDeleteI think that the country really needs a break from the politics of the last 20 or so years. Enough already!
