The political world shook tonight as Barack Obama accepted the Democratic Party's presidential nomination at Denver's Mile High Stadium. His magnificent speech--embued with undeniable strength, keen intelligence and awesome courage--capped a truly historic day and convention.
It was Barack's moment. It was America's victory.
This election should not even be close!
The National Democratic Convention begins today and the atmospherics suggest the formation of a super cell with the potential of sweeping across the prairies to the coastal and border cities. Already funnels have been spotted in the Denver vicinity--ahead of the arrival of America's progressive populist duo of Obama and Biden.
The dramatic shift in barometric pressure (as evidenced by home foreclosures, rising prices, corporate fraud, tax give-aways to the rich, jobs exporting tax breaks, record debt, unwise and monstrously expensive wars) is prompting Johnny "I'm too rich to know how many homes I own" McCain's brain trust to reconsider Mitt "I'm too rich for principles" Romney.
The following are but gusts from the gathering super storm--a storm that should sweep away America's most undemocratic and corrupt regime operated by the Wizards of Oil and War.

"The Mainstream media and McCain's handlers have focused on selling Americans on imagery of the "War Hero...Maverick...Naval Aviator" while hiding the disturbing side of McCain, that he is in fact mentally unstable, perhaps suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome), alzheimers or the onset of senility. McCain was tortured so severely in Vietnam that he tried to commit suicide. Nine out of 10 POW's who returned from Vietnam were diagnosed with PTSD. This may explain his irrational behavior but it does not explain the MSM ignoring some disturbing realities.
Perhaps McCain's "Straight Talk" Campaign of 2000 vs. Bush combined with his hosting Media BBQ's at his country homes has so endeared him to those in the Corporate Media that they choose to downplay, disregard or rationalize his consistent inability to recall basic facts, put together coherent responses or randomly lashing out in anger and singing strange songs like "Bomb Bomb Iran" to the tune of the Beachboys Barbara Ann. All McCain is programmed to say is that "He is proud of the campaign they are running." Furthermore, despite McCain regularly wearing Navy ballcaps, posing as a TOP GUN ala Tom Cruise, all evidence illustrates that McCain was a terrible pilot, destroyed numerous military aircraft, nearly flunked out of the Naval Academy (graduating 894th out of 899) where he spent more of his time behind a bar stool than studying and preparing to become a proficient pilot. McCain was more enamored with the title and the trappings of being a 'Naval Aviator' than preparing to be a proficient one...likewise he has been consumed with becoming President for the better part of 25 years but clearly is unprepared. McCain was unprepared for Vietnam and is admittedly unprepared now. To quote Wesley Clark, "Well, I don't think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be president." Exactly my point, why does fucking up essentially make one a hero? Perhaps it is because so few of the elite classes serve in the military...usually the lower middle class is sent off to die while folks like Bush, Rove, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz's sit around and pose as hawks. It is alot easier to be a hawk when the children of other parents are sent off to die. Nevertheless, the record shows that McCain was a marginal pilot at best and his lackof proficiency manning a plane was well established.
McCain has further stated that "the economy is not my strong suit" and "I need my assistants to log me on to the internet. I have no use for email." ----Is this the type of Maverick America needs right now...or a crazy old coot and ignorant schmuck who is the TROJAN HORSE of the NEOCON'S in the GOP? Is this the reason why the GOP is trying to get a stabilizing force and pro business candidate like Mitt Romney on the ticket? Perhaps because the only goal is to beat Obama and for Americans it will be too late when they realize that they have elected an INSANE MAN to be the President. He will get carried through for 4 years while they groom the VP to take over. Why else would Mitt Romney literally kiss McCain's ass? John McCain is a soul less empty vessel who at this point will say anything, align himself with whomever he needs to, to achieve his life long goal. The GOP is knowingly enabling an unstable/unhealthy man simply because he is an R and likely their best bet against OBAMA. BUT, for the GOP to put forth for President a man who is far from intellectually gifted to be begin with, who has a LOW IQ, little intellectual curiousity who may also in fact have lost his marbles is on some level....well, it ought to be a NATIONAL SCANDAL. McCain was never playing with a full deck and now even more cards are missing. Simply put, if McCain were a product you purchased at the store you would return it for being defective or broken.

To quote Michael Douglas one of my favorite actors in one of my favorite movies, "The American President "... whatever your problems, I can assure you (Sen. McCain) is not the least bit interested in solving them. He is only interested is telling you to fear them and telling who to blame for them. That's his tactic and that's how you win elections." McCain's tactics are carbon copied out of the anti-christ Karl Rove's playbook (Rove works for McCain). Be afraid, hate everything that isn't attack mode and vote your fear." Americans must vote your conscience. Be strong and say enough is enough. Democrats, Independents and Republicans should not reward the GOP with a vote for John McCain. They are perpetrating a fraud on the American people through McCain as a Trojan Horse for the NEOCONS. As many suspect, on the eve of the election in the fall, there will be an event in the United States that rally's the War Machine and support for Bush & McCain."
According to a new analysis by the Tax Policy Center, Obama's tax plan gives the biggest cuts to working families, while McCain's gives the largest cuts to the very wealthy.
In a continuation of Bush's regressive tax policies, McCain gives the wealthiest an additional $269,364 tax break; while those making less $19,000 get a piddling $19. In comparing the size of the rate cuts, rich families under a McCain presidency get a rate cut 22 times larger than working class families, and over 7 times as great as middle class families.
In sharp contrast, Obama's plan returns a dose of progressivism to American taxation policy.
Obama's plan ends Bush's tax breaks for the richest families, while cutting rates for the middle and working class families between 2.4 and 5.5 percent. The result is that families with taxable incomes of as much as $2.9 million see their federal tax bill rise by as much as $116,000, while those making less than $67,000 (which is 60% of all American families) will see their tax bills drop by as much as $1.042 tax cut.
BTW: America became an economic powerhouse with a middle class that was the envy of the world in the 20th Century driven in part by progressive tax policy.
The choice is clear: Obama's plan to provide tax relief for working families, or McCain's plan to give the richest 1% even larger tax breaks.

Frustrated by the Obama campaign's softer responds to McCain negative attacks, blogger cartwrightdale has produced his own hard-hitting attack ad.
The ad states that while George W. Bush has squandered the support of Americans, John McCain's support for the failed commander-in-chief has grown to the point where this year he's voted 100% in support of Bush. The ad ends with this question: Do you support George Bush more now than you did four years ago?
It's a tough and accurate ad--although declaring Bush the "worst president ever" could backfire, causing a sympathy response from some voters. Ironically, the ad could also reinforce the idea that McCain is less political for supporting an unpopular war and president. Of course, the truth would be the opposite.
Unlike the rest of us, most U.S. corporations and foreign companies doing business in the United States pay no federal income tax, according to a new report from Congress.
It's shameful!
The study by the Government Accountability Office, expected to be released Tuesday, said two-thirds of U.S. corporations paid no federal income taxes between 1998 and 2005, and about 68 percent of foreign companies doing business in the U.S. avoided corporate taxes over the same period.
Collectively, the companies reported trillions of dollars in sales, according to GAO's estimate.
"It's shameful that so many corporations make big profits and pay nothing to support our country," said Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., who asked for the GAO study with Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich.

The heritage of Puerto Ricans and their important role in forging Central Florida’s history will be celebrated in a multimedia exhibit being developed by Patricia Silver and Natalie Underberg, researchers with the University of Central Florida's Digital Ethnography Lab.
“Puerto Ricans in Central Florida from the 1940s-1980s: A History” will feature photographs and stories about residents’ daily lives, politics, the economy, the charisma of leaders in the community and more. The project will cover Orange, Osceola, Brevard, Lake, Polk, Seminole and Volusia counties.
The exhibit will be displayed in March and April of 2009 at the Hart Memorial Central Library in Kissimmee and the Winter Park Public Library. Parts of the exhibits also will be viewable on the World Wide Web.

Update: See Denise Oliver's "Minorities" now the Majority in key States in the US in which she calls DKos progressives to paint Texas and Florida, Arizona, Mississippi and Nevada blue by 2012. It's a great goal. She also questions the labeling of Americans of color as "minorities" .
According to its latest population projections, the so-called "minority" population in the United States reached 102,529,590 as of July 2007 -- a 2.4% increase from the year before. That's fully one-third (34%) of the total U.S. population of 301.6 million (exclusive of the populations of U.S. territories).
The U.S. population included 45.5 million Latinos (excluding the 4MM residents of Puerto Rico), or 15.1% of the total population; 40.7 million African Americans (13.5%); 15.2 million Asian Americans (5.0%); 4.5 million Native Americans (1.5%); and 1 million Pacific Islanders.
California (20.9 million) and Texas (12.5 million) alone accounted for 32% of all the U.S. minority population.
Hawaii (75.3%), California (57.3%), Texas (52.1%) and New Mexico (57.7), plus the District of Columbia (67.5%), are now majority minority states.
Additionally, minorities comprised 31-42% of the population in sixteen (16) other states.
States with the fatest growing minority populations were Utah (6.1%), Idaho (5.9), Nevada (5.7%), Wyoming (4.9%), Arizona (4.7%) and Oregon (4.2%).
States with the slowest minority growth rates were the District of Columbia (-0.8%), Michigan (0.4%), Hawaii (0.5%), New York (0.9%) and Ohio (1.1%).

The Border Wall is a new documentary from filmmaker Wayne Ewing about the attempt by the Bush administration to erect 670 miles of walls along the 2000 mile U.S.-Mexico border.
Environmentalists are outraged. Even the US Government’s Fish & Wildlife Service objects to the wall after spending $100 million dollars and 40 years to create a wildlife corridor along the Rio Grande River. And towns and cities along the Rio Grande from Brownsville to El Paso are doing everything legally within their power to stop the wall.
However, the border wall--or as some prefer, the Wall of Shame--continues its destructive march as does our national nativist nightmare.
John McCain had a brain freeze in sunny Panama City, Florida yesterday in response to a two-part question on race by a reporter:
1) What did Barack Obama says that caused McCain to charge him with using the "race card."
2) What has McCain done as U.S. Senator to improve the lives of African Americans?
These are good questions given that the MSM has allowed McCain's to getaway with race-baiting and then lying about it. Of course, it was McCain's camp that's injected race by running series of ads with a single purpose in mind: characterize Obama as "uppity", flashy, dangerous, and as someone overstepping his bounds in order to get promote a response.
However, the simple questions stumped McCain. Watch the video. He appears to have a "senior" moment, unable to answer, forgets the question, and his words. He does eventually recover enough to:
1) give a nonresponse to the first question; and
2) boldly lie by claiming to have led the charge to have Arizona adopt a Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. The truth is the complete opposite.
