Latino Conan O'Brien -- Conando!

Spoofing the telenovela genre funny man, Tonight Show host, and new Angeleno, Conan O'Brien, unveiled a new Spanish speaking character -- a Latino alter ego, Conando.

The interest around the Latino blogosphere is not in Conan's comedic talents, but in identifying the Latina actor that plays the bride rescued by Conando. For example, blogger Matt Reyes of Twitteros asks, "Who's the hot bride?

A Little Guajira Invented the Cappuccino!

Who invented the Cappuccino?

Capuchin friar Marco d'Aviano (circa 1683) is given credited, but I'm not so sure.

Supposedly, sacks of Turkish coffee were captured when the Romans repelled the Muslim invaders. However, the soldiers found straight up espresso was too bitter for their palate. Friar d'Aviano's heavenly brainstorm was to add frothy milk and sweetner to the black brew. Thus was borne the Cappuccino -- and the metrosexual Romano!

Far fetched? I think so.

Los Romanos reigned for centuries as the baddest of Europe -- a ruthless and fearsome killing machine, but to drink coffee these lords of war needed sugar and frothy milk? Hmmmm. (On 2nd thought, perhaps it's true. After all, while some men drank Scotch, Rum, Vodka and Tequila, Romans preferred syrupy and fruity concoctions, e.g., Amaretto, Sambuca and Cianti.)

A more plausible story? How about a little Guajira Cubana -- Carrie's abuelita -- as creator of the Cappuccino! Y Por Que No?

Jon Stewart on Blago's Hair and Geraldo's Mustache

Jon Stewart pokes fun at Geraldo Rivera for his weird interview of impeached Governor Blagojevich. Geraldo, defending Latinos immigrants against the FOX jackals is good. But chasing Blagojevich for an interview and then breathlessly defending the ethically challenged Chicago pol is, well, tacky.

Anjelah Nicole Johnson - Latina Comic

This video is an uncut version of Anjelah Nicole Johnson's hilarious trip to the nail salon. Before the salon bit, Anjelah -- who's of Mexican and Native American heritage -- pokes fun at Latino parenting.

Originally from San Jose, California, Anjelah, 27, is a stand-up comedian, actress, model and former NFL Cheerleader. And she's very funny.

Marga Gomez' Funny Life

In this clip, Marga Gomez talks about the emotional high of Barack Obama's election followed by the low of the California Gay marriage ban. She knows how to turn pain into laughter. It's a skill she honed as a young woman.

The daughter of Cuban comedian Wilfredo Gomez (aka, Willy Chevalier) and Puerto Rican dancer Margarita Estremera, Marga was raised in Manhattan and Long Island's Massapequa. (Talk about extremes!) It was her experience as a lonely and only Latina at the Massapequa High School, along with the family performance gene that she credits with turning her onto comedy.

An upcoming comedic venture is called Long Island Iced Latina. Here's the blurb:

Gomez continues to workshop this intoxicating comedic memoir of her awkward adolescence in Massapequa, Long Island, mixing equal parts cultural confusion, chronic virginity, mother-daughter instability and a splash of polyester fashion to paint a sardonic picture of her uprooted life as the new brown girl in a white high school.

Obama McCain Dance Off (w/a Surprise from Palin)

This is a really funny video of a dance off between Barack Obama and John McCain. Obama and his posse go first showing some incredible moves. McCain's team responds with equally wild dancing. Obama and McCain go head-to-head with an over-the-top face-off. But then Palin does a surprise walk on and steals the show.

MADtv's Sarah Palin does a Q&A

MAD-tv's Sarah Palin takes audience questions. It's funny but my heart is with Fey.

Tina Fey as Palin Week 2: Even Funnier!

I didn't think SNL could top last week's hilarious Tina Fey-as-Palin inaugural skit, but I was wrong. Last night's sit down with Katie Couric was even funnier -- and, because we're talking about a very serious possibility--a McCain/Palin Regime--even scarier.

However, as political comedy it was great.

Croaking McCain

Here's John McCain in 2002 croaking out Barbara Streisand tunes. The point of the skit is that McCain can't sing and Streisand can't govern, so each should stay out of each other's business.

However, the joke may be on McCain. (Or, it may be McCain!)

Fact: Barbara can sing. Fact: She's never claimed to know how to run a country.

Fact: McCain can't sing. Fact: McCain's retrograde economic and military policies are bankrupting his country financially and morally.

(BTW: Notice the discomfort, anger and hate McCain emotes in what is supposed to be a comedy skit.)

Instead, McCain and his understudy, Queen of Alaska, should consider careers as Vaudeville Act on the FOX Dominionist Channel.

Tina Fey IS Palin on SNL - Update

Update: How Tina Fey May Have Saved Democracy

Sarah Palin & Hillary Clinton on SNL (Tina Fey & Amy Poehler) - video powered by Metacafe

Tina Fey returned to SNL yesterday to play a dead on Sarah Palin. Fey's enormous comedic talents soar as she captures Palin's flat accent, looks, dominionist certitude and Alaska sized vacuousness. Bravo!
