But sadly, the number of murders has hovered around 1000 annually for the last 10 years. It's mostly a San Juan Metropolitan thing, not so heavy islandwide. And a high murder rate is nothing new here. If you dig deeper, it's a problem that has its roots in North America and drug trafficking. Puerto Rico's a great place to live and work (just see my site).
